Austrian publisher Nanox Games debuted in 2020 with CloudAge, co-designed by Alexander Pfister and Arno Steinwender, and after 2023's Evenfall, it released Peter Prinz's Countryside in 2025.

Now for SPIEL Essen 26, Nanox is featuring Austrian designers Pfister and Prinz in a game set far from their beautiful country: -60º. Here's an overview of the setting and gameplay of this design that features elements of deck-building and worker placement:

At 11 p.m. on the 23rd of September, 1971, all over a world very much like ours, people noticed a strange light in the sky. Three hours later, it struck somewhere in Antarctica.
Aside from the 1-4 player count, the 120-180 minute playing time, and a suggest age of 12+, the back cover shows sample cards as well as four player boards around a central tableau of icy hexagons.

Several research teams have now landed on the shores of Antarctica, and the objectives for your team are clear: Establish a highly efficient network of stations, scout the unforgiving landscape, reach the mysterious meteorite impact site, and be the most successful research team to go down in the history books...but ideally not in the manner of Lawrence Oates.
Combine scarce resources with your technological expertise to gear up for expeditions and launch groundbreaking scientific projects. When temperatures drop far below freezing, through the storm-swept landscape, balancing risk and bravery will decide between triumph and disaster.
Eight cards are depicted with text in German; they show a human, dogs, meteors, research material, and possibly an event card

On BoardGameGeek, Alexander Pfister notes that your explorers are not removed from the game board after use, but rather new tiles and action become available as you explore Antarctica and search for the meteorite's landing site. Writes Pfister, "The game includes many cards — some will go into your deck, while others grant permanent powers or unlock new worker placement spaces exclusively for you. You’ll build stations in Antarctica and can even upgrade them if you have enough explorers nearby."

German publishing partner dlp games is taking pre-orders for -60º in separate German- and English-language editions.

All of these explorers will die from exposure unless they cover up soon...
