What Do Stefan Feld, CATAN, and The Monolith Have in Common?

Nothing other than teases about future game releases.

What Do Stefan Feld, CATAN, and The Monolith Have in Common?
Gaze upon these mysterious bits and wonder about their purpose...

▪️ On Facebook, developer Ralph Bruhn from Hall Games has teased a new Stefan Feld design that will debut in October 2026, with Pegasus Spiele serving as the manufacturer and distributor for said game as with the previous Feld/Hall titles Bonfire, The Oracle of Delphi, AquaSphere, and Luna.

The design has no (announced) title as of yet — only a mock-up cover featuring a caduceus that might have an "M" under its head. Perhaps the title will remain only "M" so that you sound like you're humming whenever you talk about this game.

Designer Stefan Feld holds a box top featuring unfinished art, with the table in front of him being filled with game boards, cardboard chits, and wooden components

▪️ Since the start of 2023, Plaid Hat Games has mostly released three types of titles: Summoner Wars expansions, Ashes Reborn expansions, and the Crossroads titles Freelancers and Wandering Galaxy.

But on May 21, 2026, it announced The Monolith, a game that brings 3-4 players to an entirely new world...and not a particularly pleasant one:

Eager, spacefaring humans discovered an alien planet, only to learn a terrible danger was lying in wait. An ancient monolith of unknown origin has laid waste to their minds, turning them into frothing, violent lunatics who desire nothing more than to kill for the glory of the bloodthirsty stone.
In The Monolith, players take on the role of shamans, powerful leaders who see themselves as the only true mouthpieces of the holy Monolith. The other shamans? Frauds and apostates who must be destroyed!
The image shows a monolith on the left, with a human figure raising its hands seemingly in prayer; on the right you have a game board covered with plastic miniatures and a giant monolith
The Monolith is a game of smart maneuvers, vicious combat, upgrading shamans with unstoppable powers, and boasting of the wanton slaughter committed for the glory of the laughing stone! Packed with gobs of highly detailed miniatures, including warriors, shamans, buildings, a towering monolith and...human hearts? But the high-quality components don't end there. The Monolith features a sprawling game board, double-layered player boards for tracking your shaman's forces, actions, and upgrades, and much more.

You've just gotta have those double-layered player boards to keep track of all the hearts you collect! Plaid Hat Games plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign for The Monolith in June 2026, and to give you another example of the tone Plaid Hat is going for with this release, here's another promotional image:

The image features text that reads "Feed the monolith with violence" above an image of an astronaut having their head and upper torso annihilated with lasers, while simultaneously shooting someone else

▪️ On May 21, 2026, CATAN Studio announced that "The iconic Bluey is coming to the world of CATAN in 2027!"

I have to imagine this is a new version of CATAN Junior to coincide with the release of Bluey: The Movie on August 6, 2027, with The Toy Book featuring a long list of Bluey partnerships: the first Bluey-themed roller coaster, LEGO Bluey costume characters at LEGOLAND Japan, a stage show starting in June 2026, "renewed partnerships with Moose Toys, The LEGO Group, Hasbro, Jazwares, Spin Master, JAKKS Pacific, and Sakar International", and "new licensing agreements with Catan, Sarah's Silks, Stormin Studios, Pure Fishing, Mookie Toys, and more".

Shaun the Sheep seems like a more fitting IP tie-in for CATAN, but perhaps some other decade.
