Unmatched Plans from Restoration Games

Gen Con 2026 brings revelations about Restoration's plans

Unmatched Plans from Restoration Games

On Thursday, July 30 at Gen Con 2026, U.S. publisher Restoration Games held a "Blueprints" event in which it revealed the status of current projects, including updates for some titles announced during its Gen Con 2025 Blueprints presentation. The biggest reveal was Unmatched: Slay the Spire, with the only info revealed about this IP-related Unmatched set being its four heroes: The Ironclad, The Silent, The Watcher, and The Defect. Beyond that and the teaser image above, Restoration invites you to sign up for future details.

Restoration announced two other Unmatched sets, with the 2027 release Unmatched: Once Upon a Time — which features the Big Bad Wolf, Mulan, Snow White, and Pinocchio — intended to be a good starting point for those just discovering the game line and looking for an ideal entry point.

Unmatched Adventures: A Study in Terror, also due out in 2027, is the third co-operative title in the Unmatched line, and as with 2023's Tales to Amaze and 2025's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, A Study in Terror will feature four new heroes who can face off against one of the two new villains included in the box or face off against one another or any other Unmatched hero.

The last news for this line relates to Unmatched: Digital Edition, with Dire Wolf having launched a beta version on Steam on 29 July 2026. This 21 July 2026 blog post from Dire Wolf details what's new with this edition of the game, how previously purchased items in the old edition will carry over into this new edition, and what's coming in the future.

In updates for its 2025 Blueprints report, Restoration showed off a pre-production copy of Return to Dark Tower: Expeditions, which was crowdfunded in October 2025; noted that the Titan figures and dice in Battle Monsters: Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah are still being tooled; and said that the Thunder Road: Vendetta – Interstate of Decay campaign game from Jerry Hawthorne, Dave Chalker, and Brett Myers is still being worked on.

Finally, Restoration Games turns ten in 2027 and plans to release tenth anniversary editions of two of its earliest titles: Downforce from designers Rob Daviau, Justin D. Jacobson, and Wolfgang Kramer, and Stop Thief! from Daviau, Jacobson, and Robert Doyle. It's amazing to think that these titles each originated more than 45 years ago and are still finding new players! Every game deserves another turn indeed...
