Troyes Returns, Now with Ladies!

The debut title from Pearl Games gets an overhaul from Ian O'Toole

The cover of Troyes: Special Edition shows three people standing together behind a shield while holding flags and other tools; a building serves as a backdrop.

Belgian designer Sébastien Dujardin launched publisher Pearl Games in 2010 with Troyes, a 2-4 player game co-designed with Xavier Georges and Alain Orban, and sixteen years later Troyes remains Pearl Games' best-rated game on BoardGameGeek.

In October 2026, Pearl Games and Dutch publisher Quined Games announced a special edition of Troyes that will be crowdfunded in February/March 2027. Quined Games is probably best known for its Master Print series of boutique games that started in 2007 with a fancy edition of Acchittocca's Leonardo da Vinci (co-published with White Goblin Games) and that most recently added a fancy edition of Rüdiger Dorn's Goa. [Disclosure: Quined Games has advertised on Board Game Beat.]

"Troyes has always been a longtime favorite of mine, so this project is very close to my heart", says Rafaël Theunis of Quined Games. "Ian O’Toole is redoing all the artwork, and in addition to the full Ladies of Troyes expansion, this edition will include brand-new content and a solo mode."

A game board features a walled city with many spaces within the walls for cards to be placed. Dice are placed in a central ring, and various wooden tokens are placed throughout the board.
